Wondering if any of you have any ideas on two problems i have not sure where else to ask.
What it is the treads on the drive shafts are worn and i didn't really want to by new ones have brought new nuts but they come loss. I wondering can you buy something like lock tight but stronger. or is it a case of welding them up. And shot in the dark cos i running out of ideas does anyone on here know anyone who sells extreme paints (Cry Flake) apart from rage and house of kolor.

Thanks

You will not repair the driveshaft threads with anything other than new CV joints to be quite honest with you.

If they have come loose are you sure you did them up properly? With the split tapered washer underneath? and a NEW split pin?

Are you sure the splines are not warn and rocking backwards and forwards as you accelerate and slow ? Had this happen on a few cars, not minis though. Just a thought.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

this is unusual

if the threads are goosed
"there is no compromise but to to the job right"!

the advice off tom & mirage is spot on

forget the loctight & the welder on this one

as you dont want the wheels to come off doing high speeds do you ?

i have had an outer cv where the threads went in a ramp shape rather than the usualy piramid shape(does that make sence). i was repalceing a wheel bearing, fitted a new nut ,washer and pin. about 500 miles later it was loose as hell. thought to myself thats odd. so fitted another new nut washer and pin. happened agian then i inspected the thread and noticed the unusual profile (due to overtightening before?!? who knows) replacement CV was the ONLY cure.

i know what your saying but easyer to weld and chuck when the bearing go isn't it! One thing though when i brought the nut and coter it had a cer clip with it not sure if this is ment for another car though cos i couldn't see where it fitted. but you say fitting cv joint is the best how much are these cos its gone on both sides and yes i thing you have something evolotion i did do them dead tight
