I have a problem

as some of you are aware my pug was written off in a non fault accident couple of weeks back

well i had a call from the insurance assessor approx ten days ago saying that he was willing to offer me £300, i basically i told him to shove it, the car is high milage and has been an insurance loss in the past but £300??? what the fuck can i buy for that?

i said that there offer was a crock of shit and i would never accept it, ANY pug 405 TDi with FSH only 2 owners and all the toys that work, 8 months Mot and 3 Months tax is worth £500 all day long at least its also a late one on a 96 plate, so they either put the car back to its pre accident condition or give me a more sensible offer

he said he would have to go back to the claims department i agreed

This morning a cheque for 300 turned up!

1) no written offer has been made to me
2) the offer is to low

where do i go from now?

Get on the blower and give them what for! Tell them you had agreed that a revised offer would be forthcoming and you are not accepting the £300 they have already offered you.

Try and get some adverts for similar cars (age, spec, mileage etc.) as this is proof of how much they are worth.

It's a bit cheeky sending you the cheque, I suspect that this is a common tactic of insurance companies.

Well its not going to well

Phoned her insurance and said i felt it was unaceptable that they have just sent a cheque without any corrispondace at all, the lady(i use lady loosly) just gave me attitude said that i can take it of leave it and thats all they will be offering if i dont take it thats my problem, i just put phone down before i started swearing

i see the lady that caused the accident as i left work, i have told her that her insurance company are forcing me into a position where i will have to sue in order to make sure i am not out of pocket, obviously shes not happy about this

do you think goig to small claims court is the way forward?

I think you should probably try and get your insurance company involved at this point to fight your corner.

Also something I have found useful in the past is to keep a log of every time you receive a letter or speak to someone, get their name, phone number, record the date and time, and any salient points of the communication. All this can become very useful.
