On one of the questions and answers for this item the seller recommends using a flexible down pipe and mounting it to a standard downpipe, is this correct? It according to him stops it cracking.

Also is this statement correct and needed ?

"an electronic knock sensor will be needed to control pinking (a great way to melt pistons). If you're a real whizz you could just change the weights in the distributor & save a few quid"

Finally does anyone use heat reflective material in their engine bay as he proposes?

Thanks Matt

That's quite an interesting piece of kit, £235 seems a bit steep con sidering it's condition is unknown. But if you wanted an easy suck through it's all there.

A flexible down pipe is one way to do it and would be ok, but it wouldn't be too hard to make a propper downpipe.

The bit about the knock sensors is bollocks. Sure a knoxck sensor will work, but only with an engine management that can retard the ignition in accordance with the knock sensor output.

have you bought it?

No I was looking at it, saw a post I think on here saying it was a t3 turbo not a t2 anyway.

I guess I am going to have to read up on the difference between suck through and blow through turbos first!

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

i can tell you as one guy stated

the suck through system is a dead fish!

forget about it.
use the blow through

knock sensor as wil- states is true!
forget about this as well

dont wast your hard earned money *wink*

the heat reflective material as you mentioned
is a good idea as it stops you boiling in the cab

mine has not got any, but is double skinned in the modded box with a 3mm spacing of flat bar
25mm X 3mm and then another skin placed on top welded all round

this sorts the heat problem for good *wink*

"no heat reflective lagging rqd"!!!!
