i need some ideas please, i have only got the engine in the car about a month ago, i never seperated the engine and gearbox, but i did remove the diff housing and diff then bolted back on as it came off as far as i know. the engine came from a metro turbo and i cant remember too clearly but i am sure i put it in 3rd to nock the pins out...and thats where it looks like it is now on the selector in the mini...but it will not come out of gear now i have pulled verry hard and tried to swing the selector but it wont move, could it be something i missed when putting the diff back?
i have been assured the engine and box where fine when parked up in the metro but i never heard it ran, i trust my freind:)

its stating to get me down now :(

thanks, Dan

if you took the diff and side plateds off you might have disturbed the selector folks maybe, try taking off the side cover closest to the gear rods(right hand side) and see if you can move it then if nothing else works that is

or you could have moved the selector shaft 180 deg whic will disnegaed it from the bell cranks with out you nowing, also another one is the bush in the reverse gear has moved out so the bell crank will move out of postion and locking it all up.

but could be something more simple.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

i can get in to take the side plate off with the engine in cant i? i know i cant take the whole diff back off tho, it has to come back out. i cant remember what you can see with the side plate off or even the diff to think if i had disterbed anything, i dident pay much attention to the selector bit. will let you know how i get on..

thanks. Dan
