We all know A-series gearbox is weakest link of a-series. but i am wondering what the torque limit on fellowing?

very good condition standard gearbox: 90lbft ?

as above but with straight cut drop gear: ??

All new bearings, harden layshaft, straightcut drop gears, 4pin X-diff. etc etc but using very good condition hecial gears:???

Same as above but straight cut gears set: ???

There are no definative answers to this question.

It all comes down to how hard you are going to drive it, and how often you will tolerate rebuilding it.

correct Tom, but its a properly thought out question none the less,
torque ,rather than the old hp question.

Vroom, i have been putting lots of torque through my rear box which is an A series ,not A plus and it cracked on the centre web sometime within the two year spell between teardown, more than likely sometime last year as i started upping the power, but every other component was in perfect condition.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

my guestimate is 130 to 150lbft |+....
but not all the time
