The little thing, small black box, two spade connectors, one little pipe on one side, and one little rounded off "pen lid" on the other..

what does it do exactly? and how?

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

i *think* its just the boost solenoid your on about.

basically its an electronic bleed valve which the ecu controls.

replace this with a bleed valve and dump the ecu if you want a constant boost pressure. keep it if you want to have 4psi low down and 7psi top end as designed.

HTH *happy*

as is.. ive not got the ecu, but i DO have the boost solenoid.. The idea was that i could set boost at say 6psi and the next at 9psi or something, and that i could change it with a flick of a switch. I cant remember exactly how ive got my stuff plumbed in but i'll go have a lo9ok today and scribble it down.. ive got a unny feeling ym bleed valve is in the wrong place.

the valve you are on about i think is the boost solenoid valve which allows the 7psi boost.

to ditch the ECU do the following. there should be a pipe from the turbo inlet scroll to the actuator. you need to "T" into this and fit your bleed valve. the other pipe you blank off as it goes to the ECU which you dont need.

then go to Rover and get the safety blow off valve from a Montego turbo, this fits in the plenum and allows 10 or 11psi of boost rather than 7psi as standard

i forgot!!

i have adjustable boost from inside the car. once you have fitted the bleed valve, fit a pipe from the outlet to a solenoid valve, put the switch inside the car and switch when you want to go from 4psi to 7psi or 10psi if you fitted the spring mentioned above.

check with an engine builder prior to running 10psi as your engine may not take the boost!!!!!!!!!!!!

i fitted the switch to the gear lever so boost can be change without taking your hand off the wheel or gear lever, this allows the boost th be changed mid gear or in higher gears when grip is less of a problem.
