Hi all,

Took turbo mini to beaulie yesterday and on way down it overheated got it home and was running fine but today when i moved it to fit an electric fan it was blowing lots of blue smoke!

I want to check that i haven't blown the headgasket or done anymore damage but dont really want to take the engine out!

Can i take the head off with the turbo with the engine still in the car?

Also what are the signs of a blown headgasket? as it runs ok and cant see any milky residue in the rocker cover or anything in the radiator!

Thanks Matt

Ive done it with an SPi engine. Head, cast exhaust manifold, injection manifold, rockers and push rods all off in one.

Id expect it to be possible with the turbo, maybe a little more bulkier.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

piece of piss with the turbo. unbolt the inlet and exhaust manifolds at the head, undo the top engine steady, wedge the engine forwards then balance the carb/inlet on the scuttle and slide the turbo off and rest it in the bulkhead box.

seriously its no different to an NA engine. half hour and you'll have the head off...

I think he means all in one as in with the turbo and carb still attatched. saves am exhaust gasket, perticularly if you dont have a spare one. It can also be a little quicker.

Dont know about the turbo though, the carb may catch the scuttle before the head is free of the head studs???
