Took engine out and apart again, heres what i found...

Luckily just some very light scratches on my crank so going to continue to use it. Ive got over £900 of reciepts for just the machining that was done on the engine before i got it from pot_dan including loads of lightening ballencing and whatever else was done to the crank, guess its not so balanced anymore!

Got engine back togehter now just got to put flywheel on tomorow afternoon, put it back in and hopefully get it running again!

That was almost an expensive mistake!!!

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

if there are no bits in the sump does that mean you've took them out or you never found that many?

because if its the later you may as well say goodbye to your engine now.

iain is right, you have GOT to find ALL the bits missing from that dizzy drive! When I stripped the diff planet wheels on my autograss car a few years ago, I stripped the diff, counted the gear teeth I was missing, and then washed the box out and delved around with a magnet on a stick until I was certain I had ALL the bits out.

have to agree

personally i would have my local machine shop clean it out properly, much cheaper than having crank reground and new bearings, followers and poss cam

feebs seriously this aint good enough imho as the damage will occur before youve done the first oil change. these fragments small bits could knacker things up. this is similar to what killed my last engine on mine my diff pin worn badly and the swarf killed the oil pump which led to no oil pressure on start up for ages which killed the cank bearings.

yeah you might get away with it but we all might be saying told you so!!! in a month. its your call

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

easy man think of everything the oil is lubricating and protecting, you could totally fuck your whole engine, and the turbo unless you get it totally clean.

Yep got to agree with the above. It's pure stupididty when you've put so much time effort and money into the engine not to spend a bit more time making sure you've removed all the swarf.
