London and Surrey Mini Owners club are holding a track day at Goodwood on 12th July.

It is limited to 60 cars so is a first come first served basis. But this means that there is a maximum of 10 cars out on the track at any one time, and each car should be able to get at least 5 15 minute sessions in.

The cost is £70 for the trackday if you are already a LSMOC member, or £90 with a years membership to LSMOC if you are not already a member.

I think you will agree this is fantastic value for that amount of track time.

There are 20 tickets on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...me=STRK:MESE:IT

Its a great day out, and it would be good to see a few more turbo cars out there putting in some faser laps.

A couple of people i know enquired and about running A series powered cars but not minis but got told they were'nt allowed to play...

Do they not let Minis with JKD headed or Vtech engines for example play play.

As long as it is a mini body or variant it is allowed to play.

I will be out there with a Jack Knight twin cam lump, my bro Stu Wright that most of you know will be there with his blue turbo.

Anything goes, vauxhall, honda, bike engine and all variations of the A series!

come have a play

I know damn well Vtech etc would be able to run.

A friend of mine enquired about a metro with an A series and was told "computer says no"...Cough.

Shame as you seem to be struggling with numbers and have to ebay the tickets.

So if some who is a complete stranger buys a ticket and turns up a "scamp" kit car that will be Ok...??....

Shame as a couple of well presented Metro Turbo "challenge" cars would have been interesting.

Not rying to come accross as funny but you know that the numbers will dwindle as the cars pack up closer to the day and it is a shame to turn people away..

Feebluek - unfortunetely it is only for LSMOC members. I believe it is to do with insurance, the way that the event is organised everyone has to be a member - but don't quote me on that.

But to be honest £90 is a cheap track day, so if you don't want to do anything with the club afterwards - don't! Just use it to get a cheap track day.

It's the only reason i joined the club originally!

Giallofly - yes indeed we are short on numbers, we couldn't get the usual date that we would go for so the event is a month earlier than usual so we have been very short on time for advertising it. And at the moment the uptake is down on what we would have liked. Which isn't a problem in that the people who do do the event will get more track time, but it is an issue in getting the event to happen in future years, as the club does heavily subsidise the cost.

I can totally understand your point of if a scamp is allowed then why not a metro, and I certainly wouldn't have a problem with them out on the track, but unfortunetely that decision isn't down to me and I am waiting a reply at the mo.

Jon what is the restriction at Combe - surely that is somewhere near the same noise restriction?

I thought most track days were under 100dB

I believe it is 100 at Combe.....

Might be wrong, i know DB's are strange things where a few DB's higher is twice as loud or something...

yeah there is something dodgy like that, but with the exception of few - namely carl who if he fired his up at home would probably get a reading down at goodwood, turbos aren't normally that noisey - u guys normally sail through noise restrictions

well i'm going anyway, its a good event, just a load of minis blatting about- theres been an assortment of turbos there in the past - infact thats where i got the bug and decided to build one. Mike Cooper always comes along in his touring car style new cooper and gives a good show.

I would not use Combe as a bench mark as they are more strict at Goodwood as noise is taken at 3/4 max revs which on a Mini that revs to 7 is 5250 rpm as opposed to Castle Combe who measure at a std 4500 rpm regardless.

My car measures 93 at Combe but 101 at Goodwood so be warned!

I have a supertrapp which I use to good effect for this problem when required
