Anyone ever know anyone who has done an turbo a series auto.

I have a slight disablility with my right arm and cannot drive a manual car but have done everything i want to do to my car apart from the Turbo.

I know it would be possible but would it work or would the gearbox be to weak all help much appreciated.

bad idea of good idea???

Anything is possible!

Start with a low-boost conversion and take it from there.

I do feel a supercharger would make for a nicer overall setup though...

I agree with Dave on this, supercharger would definatley make for a very smooth setup on an auto...

I doubt the auto box would like the kick from a turbo very much.

Never thought of it like that Pete, makes sense when you put it that way

Not often i disagree with Pete.

BUT

Having been in my mates gen2 Eclipse (evo3 engine basically) I can honestly say that I'd rather never have a turbo engine mated to an auto-box for a road car.

Dragging is one thing - you shift hard and the torque convertor multiplies and fills in the gaps between the shifts that you'd see on a manual trans - but for a road car (given my experience with my friends motor) I'd not be going that way personally unless you were building a VERY mild turbo motor with a high CR and low boost.

A great book on the subject of tuning a series engines is David Vizard "Tuning the A series Engine".

This book covers every aspect of tuning the a series, well worth getting hold of it and having a read.

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.
