Hello earthlings

I orded some head gaskets from mini-its in the week, and id been having some trouble finding a turbo manifold gasket, when he said he had his own type of gasket made up, interested i said id take a couple to try.

So what do you chaps think of this? (its the middle one)

ive tried an injection one before but i ended up with it blowing, the turbo one this year has been ok over the last 1164 miles

he said its made of the same stuff as the K series ones, and appears to be a gasket sandwiched between 2 layers of thin aluminium

my only worry is that it doesnt have a ring around the inside of the exhaust like the turbo one does, but then again if it doesnt destroy on a nasp car turbo exhaust heat wont be that much hotter will it?

I've used this gasket before on NA stuff a few years ago, had no problems with it. See how you go with a turbo I suppose?

my be ok ive just ordered one from avonbar so well see what it looks like. the only thing with the middle one i can fink of is them types off gasket tend to stick to the surfaces of the head/manifold so should you need to do a quick head gasket change at avon youd probably need a new gasket there as well. *smiley*

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Not having done much on turbo's i dunno but,

isn't the turbo gasket only available in one size with the reinforcing ring?

assuming this the ring will be lost when opening it out to suit a modded head.

...so this (minits own) gasket should be no worse than the proper one.

the ring is a fair size mate, opening up your ports bigger than it is fairly hard...

Ive tried min-its style ones with no luck at all, the origional metty turbo one really is the nuts, i wish i had some spare in stock

ahh righto,

I was assuming they would be approx the size of a std ex port.

That gasket, Ive had similar ones on a NA engine that burnt through the exhaust port at the top when on the rollers, the graphite/fibre was totaly gone leaving just the perforated steel. Will never use them again.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I'm running a similar gasket, but it's ALL metal. I've used this gasket for years and it's the bollox. Last time i found somebody selling them i bought 10.
I saw the one you've got, and it just looked like a normal gasket in disguise, so i avoided it.
If you're desperate i can send you one of my proper ones ?

I've never had any luck with that design on nat-asp motors.

All i've ever used is the turbo one, and the injection one.

Neither gave any probs, but I still prefer to use the turbo one when i can
