Hello folks,

A short while back i changed the discs and pads on my S brakes,
I've just had a look to see how the EBC's are wearing, and noticed that the pads move around in the caliper to the point where they can overhang the edge of the disc(about 3-4mm play).

The problem appears to be that the split pin holes in the pads are oversize, approx twice the pin size, at first i thought the pins must be too small, but new ones fit the same, also it occured that maybe there should be a clip to "push" the pads towrd the centre of the disc but there appears to be no such part listed.

Has anyone come across this before?

Yes I have had this before, just required the edge that builds up on the pads to be filed back every now and again. I seem to remember fitting a new pair of discs helped matters.

Ok basicly ignore it then!!

Interestingly with the old discs and pads i had the same problem ( due to the discs being ancient and the outside edge rusting away) but the pads didn't move around so I got the Lip on the pad.

with the new discs and pads where the pad moves around the lip gets worn/broken off.

I'll ignore it for the moment but when i get time I think i'll get old of some pad clps from a late mini/ metro and see if they can be adapted to fit.

Cheers for your usual speedy answer Tom!!
