Put my vmax head on today, but the pushrods wouldn't go through the head where the holes have been sleeved.
I skimmed 4 down with the angle grinder and put a chamfer on them.
Just wondered what other peaple do ??

Heads all torqued down so don't really want to take it off again, the ball end on the rods are approx 1mm to big for the holes.

If I redrill them there is a risk of breaking through into the inlet ports

Think I will take some pushrods into work and regrind them properly.

Heads torqued down?

4 of the head bolts go through the rocker posts?

Surely getting the job right is worth a new head gasket. It sounds like it is the bottom ball/cam follower end. Not the place you want to butcher as it is a very stressed part of the engine.

To be honest what sort of performance head supplier sends out a head that needs further modifying?

Update..Phoned vmax,he said grind the rods down as they normally have a radius on the outside so won't affect contact area.
Apparantly racers grind both ends of the rods to lighten them.
He said don't redrill the holes as It would prob break through to the inlets as they are massive.

It's a grp a "monster head" 37/32 by the way

with that size sleve bri

make sure the push rod angle on lift and fall is not going to catch on the side of the seleve

my opinion is that it will

this would place a bend in the push rod

eventualy wrecking the whole valve train very quickley !

please check

ALL 940 heads have got sleeves. I just cannot understand why allegedly professional head modifiers market their heads with them having sleeves. Fuck, Rover fitted sleeves. What's this to brag about.

In this case it seems as the original sleeves have been discarded and OS ones fitted. Why, I cannot understand, but I guess the manufacturer should be able to answer this???

I don't mind using them ground down, after all the outer edge of the sperical has no contact with the cam follower
