I'm considering using the following pistons for my engine:

10cc dish Fast Road Turbo Omega Pistons for 1293

For two reasons:

1) I'm under the impression that forged pistons require a slightly looser fit in the block as they are not as uniform as cast pistons and this increases wear. As my car is purely a road car reliability is preferable to all out power.

2) They are the only pistons I can find with a 10cc dish, which I need to get the CR I'm after, my heads only got 26cc chambers, and I'd like a realtively high CR (aiming for 9.5)

Obviously the applicability of the pistons depends on the rest on my engine spec so here goes:

Avonbar Phase 2 Cam
Renult 5 T2 & Mirage Manifold
Forge ajustable actuator 5 to 10 PSI (likely to be running near 5 PSI than 10)
Mega Jolt
RS Turbo Series 2 Intercooler
Forge DV
Lightly Ported Head
:EDIT: 2.95 Diff (I'd like to keep the revs down on the motorway) :EDIT:

As previously mentioned this is intended to be a road engine and I want it to pull through the rev range.

They sound like a good choice for your application, I know my forged pistons certainly have larger running clearances - although no noticeable piston slap on cold starts, but i suppose they heat up quickly....

I know people that have run the Omega cast pistons succesfully for years. Very good pistons in my experiances.

Somewhere on this site is a compression ratio calculator... but i cant seem to find it....

The 10cc dish does sound about right for your application, just get everything checked before you order and build it!

Well don't discount the MiniSpares Mega pistons either...

I used to use the Omegas, but once the cast Megas' appeared, and you could only get omega's through MED, I switched to those...

Forgotten more than most ever know

I have used 73,5 mm cast Omegas for 10 years now. No problems whatsoever. I have not seen any Mega pistons but if Dave says they are OK then they are ! I know that some type of Omega pistons are hard to get even from MED.
