hi

just a quick one lads/ladies...

is there any differnce between A+ pistons and pre A+ pitons?
if so what are they?
could you fit pre a+ into a a+ block?

i did a quick search but couldnt find any thing so im wondering weather there is any differnce at all!

largebore pistons vary very little, some earlier ones are full skirt design, certainly the cooper s ones were. They switched later to a slipper piston type design and didnt change back. They are all press fit. They will all fit in all largebore engines, maybe not 1071/970 ones, but all 1275 ones certainly.

Small bore is another matter. There are 3 fit types IIRC, pinchbolt (i think) floating with circlips and press fit. Only very very late 998 minis have press fit. You have to match the piston with the rod, but again will fit all blocks.

im looking at some avonbar forged 15cc dished that he says are not a+ type but it doesnt matter i take it!

got them today seem very good
how can i tell if the bolts are ARP or standerd?
theres no writing on them or anything that i can see.
i wont need as much work done to the head now to get the cr down!

well the tops of the bolts have been ground off as i think there balanced!
what do you think i should do? just get ARP bolts and chuck the ones that are on it away?

Unknown rod bolts always go in the bin for me, but up to you.

Bear in mind the damage a failed rod bolt will do.......e.g. scrap engine and poss gearbox too.

yer thats what i was thinking in the bin they go!
will i need to get them rebalanced once iv got the ARP bolts on or would it not make that much differnce?

Not enough difference to matter IMO, especially for a turbo motor which will not be revving as highly as a NA race motor for example.

yer i was thinking keep it all the same so its balanced or have strong bolts!? i think strong bolts is a better idea to me!
