I've recently had my enigine rebuilt with a new block. When i originally had it built, i had an oil cooler fitted. The hose that went fromn the block to the filter screwed straight into the block on a parallel thread (NPT ???).

Now i've gone to put the hoses onto the new block, the hole and thread in the block is bigger

Does anyone know what size thread it might be so i can get a union for it?

Cheers

Dave

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

not 100% sure but i think its 5/8" NPT

go to your local hose shop these peeps will put you on the right track for a reducer, so you can still use the oil cooler

The only time they changed was about 1992 onwards, with the injection engines. For some reason these blocks use a different thread for this pipe.

This could be the difference you have come across?

If it could be an injection block then all the big Mini parts sheds will sell you a "injection" oil cooler pipe.

i know it was a newish block from minisport, (only a few years old) so this might explain it.

I'll have a ring round the mini suppliers first then and see what the score is.
