This is certainly not a job to undertake lightly!

Benross is the best man to comment here as he has done this on his own car.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

it is time consuming

i purchased my roof skin off of Rover 380 pounds when they were still going

firstley i cut the roof off with a slitting disk, leavng about 3" all around the sides

then you can get in the middle of the mini and start to clean ALL around the the edges using P40 production paper revealing all the spot welds and there are LOADS!

then once you have found them you need to drill these out and then start to peel the old roof skin back using a sharp bolster chizle

after you have removed it you can dress the job up

fitt the new roof on and clamp it all down using around 10 forked mole claps

then attack with a spot welder it should take you aroun 2 hours with the spot welder its bull work!

the problem is... getting hold of a new roof skin NOW!

i know you can get plastic or grp ones but they are not as strong

having said that if the guy is very skillfull he should be able to tig or mig a plate in the hole and then sort it that way

good luck!

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

i was going with a carbon one on my last car with it having a full cage. bit more weight saving! not on this car though but thats only because the roof isnt full of dings like the last one.

Oh lord, dont go to the ballache of fitting a new roof just for the sake of a hole for a sunroof! Just chop a bit of roof out of another/scrapped mini and weld it in. I know fillers not ideal, but its a better option than a new roof. I've seen this done many many times, infact i have to do it on my van, as some nobber fited a hole to a 62 morris :-@

Jogg (sp) the edge and set the new roof in, it'll be far more cost effective.

Worrying!

Do you think it might have been in an accident? Or just because whoever it was couldnt be bothered getting rid of all the dents? Ill track down the guy again and ask him.
