i noticet gialloflys aka John flans metro Turbo challange car
fuel circuit

john does not have a return to tank fuel line in

in place is an ally block with some port drilling, so the fuel recircs around that doing away with a return line back to tank

could you shed more light on this please john as its a neat trick to say the least

i know how i would do it but i though i would bring the subject up for all

we may put them in production saving a lot of work for peeps with future projects

pics would be nice john *smiley*

THANKS

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

i was considering the same mod Ben. Braided hose is very expensive and i already have a feed!

I am certain it does have a return, i'm 100% certain infact that it returns fuel back to a swirl pot that the high pressure pump pulls from. there are then two inertia pumps lifting from the main tank into the said swirl pot.

The ally block is just a convienient place to get pressure readings (gauge connected in here) and an easy point to mount a drain hose to to, drain out fuel from which can then be blocked off with a cap

But I could be wrong.....

Some of our turbo lot use a T piece on the feed to the fuel regulator as the return, often just a plastic T piece.

My challenge car has a alluminium block doing the same job but has 5 connections, 1 fuel in from pump,2 fuel to reg, 3 fuel return from reg, 4 fuel pressure gauge take off and 5 a drain off tap for dropping fuel.

The swirl pot/filter has an overflow that feeds to the filler neck.

I will sort a pic out....

I was wrong to!

Took a better look today and it does have a conventional return pipe back to the tank.

It is between the fuel reg and carb.

The block has 4 tappings into it, it is just a conector for the fuel pressure gauge that i have moved inside the engine bay for safety reasons and the union for draining fuel off.

i'm using a platic T piece for my return line. it goes back intot he fuel feed inbetween the tank and pump. all it is is a plastic T thats rated @ 10bar. one of the types with the teeth that you push fit plastic pipe into, then i've jubileed my fuel pipes onto these plastic bits. Has been fine for the last 2 years...actually thinking about it, i might change my fuel filter before avon seeing as its been on since i turbo'd the car :$

right, instead of the fuel return line going back to tank.

why not place a none return valve on the return out feed pipe on the regulator and then after that

tee this into the infeed pipe to the regulator

hey presto no return line needed!

or iam i wrong gents

If I have understood what you have said Ben then I don't think it will work.

Basically, the return pressure will always be lower than the feed pressure, so the 'return fuel' will never open the one-way valve. This will result in the carb seeing full pump pressure all the time. Oops

Maybe I don't understand what you are saying then. Buds returns to the low-pressure side of the pump (essentially the tank) it still runs all the way back.
