Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

Just thought i'd have a quick check over my cam timing before the RR, make sure its all in order and i know dots are everything but i thought they should be somewhere near?

Mine are miles apart. only a query really. not that fussed as i'm sure it was set up right by simon.

Only thing i can think of is if he timed it up on the wrong valve by accident?

I know my TDC mark so going to check it roughly anyway and if its in the ballpark i'll leave well alone.

cheers

The most i've ever seen dot's out by was one tooth 17deg, but then i've only timed in about 3-4cams using the proper method. Of course that only applies to fixed gears, not vernier type where the middle moves and can acount for more offset int he dots.

Edit: i cant belive that simon would have got it wrong as hes a reliable chap, when/if you get him to do something *laughing* *tongue*

thats what i think but obviously anyone can make a simple mistake.

i would of thought the dots would of been closer though. they are std fixed gears, not vernier.

Hmm, i'll take a look to be on the safe side anyway, only takes a minute.

The dot on the large ring can be anywhere, depending on how it's bolted to the centre.
Quick check would be see where the keyways are in the crank and cam relative to a std dotted set

Deffo worth checking just for piece of mind. Cam timing is easy to get wrong if you get distracted, and simon is always getting distracted by random idiots bothering him.

I've never had one out by that much dot to dot.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph
