So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Mega's gotta be a winner for cost, its probably got the best ring-pack aswell, as the omega forged pistons have very skimpy rings which probs wont do all that many miles - unlike the mega which is proven 50,000 miles on with no probs.

If it were me i'd go for the cast omegas, available at 240ish and are virtually indestructable. I know a chap whos been running them at 9,000 rpm and at 12.5:1 c/r for the last 7 or so years in a hillclimber.

I've seen the future and tbh its Pie

i ran 73.5mm cast omega's and they were fine. i only replaced them because the bore was so thin it went oval. lasted well, got atleast 5000 miles out of that engine

I'm also running 73.5mm cast omega's (11cc dish), for just under 40,000 'road' mile with on problems.

wind the boost up and you can have the same problem. lol

i also smashed 2 sets of those mega pistons along with 2 KP pistons and a forged omega

i like changing pistons because boost is adictive!!

I've just found the pics of both sets of omegas (new forged and cast), if they are of any help other than engine porn i'll get them up.

im running cast omega's with an 11cc dish and they seem to be coping pretty well, ive had the engine for 2 years and it was pretty well abused before i got it (despite what the previous owner said!) its done 1 year with a 286 cam and pretty hairy revs and a year with the turbo slapped on the back and they still look like new. although down the line i want some of the acralite pistons to help get the CR a little lower. im at 8.5 - 1 at the moment and thats with 28cc's in the head *oh well*
steve

doh! why did i start messing with it!
