Yo peeps, come across a bit of a prob earlier where i was removing drivers side driveshaft, was tapping the end of the shaft to remove the hub when suddenly the whol lot comes out from the inner pot joint!!! So now im stuck with a connected hub and driveshaft, whats the best way to go about seperating the two? Just wacking the hub off the spline or what?!

i'm confused. how do you hit the shaft to remove it? you should be pulling the shaft out not pushing it in.

if you meen hitting the outer cv to remove it from the hub and its not come out the hub, just carry on hitting it but you may need a new outer cv afterwards.

what were you trying to do?

sorry, i removed the hub nut and was tapping the end of the outer CV joint which the hub nut screws on to, while pulling the hub to remove it of the end of the driveshaft, and instead of the hub coming off of the spline the inner end of the driveshaft cam away from the pot joint! All in one!

what were you trying to do?

to sort it tap the outer cv out of the hub. if no joy tap harder.

now its all apart put the cv back together, fit it to the shaft then refit the rubber boot (boot needs to be on the shaft before you fit the cv)

then ensure the inner cv has all the ball still fitted and chuck the lot back together. simple job should take about an hour

( note if tapping does not work use a bigger hammer. if still no luck try a hammer with a big head and a 3ft handle. if you use this hammer you will need a new outer cv!)
