a std box gave me enough room... normally its best to put it over to the right side of the engnie bay to clear the actuator better.

Brace the car? not sure what you mean!

You can cut the hole with the subby in I think...

I can't see why you need to really put the box any lower ?
But like Alex said, moving it to the passenger side a little will help with clearence. Make sure you cut a generous corner off the crossmember.

"Also what is the easiest way to brace the car so none of the mounts move? "

I'm guessing you mean try and strengthen the front end ?
In which case i would add bracing to the subframe and and seam weld the joints if possible. If you look on the second picture down you can see the box section i've added to the rear of the subframe and the bracing pieces welded to the towers.

I would have thought it would be easier to remove the subframe when installing the box, this way you have full and proper access to the bulkhead.

cheers lads for the advice, when i got the box from avonbar they sent me a fact sheet saying it is important to brace the front end while the subframe is out so that the subframe mounting points do not move, thats why i wanted to keep the subframe in.

just booked mine in at a retro car garage. Its 29 pounds an hour, i need to get the dimensions for the box though. Does anyone have any? Or could anyone scan in the avonbar instructions? He says it will be easy stuff, also gonna cut the corner off. Gave him loads of print outs of you guys cars so cheers for that!

just done my bulkhead this afternoon aswell, loads of pics of your cars across me windscreen for directions. didn't take long i used a plasma cutter instead of a grinder. i cant believe the box from minispares came with no instructions and only had 6 spot welds on it, ive had to seam weld the box aswell!

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

Yep, my box went in with the subby still in.

Easy, only took about 10mins to cut the hole and slot it in.
