i have just removed the clutch and flywheel, in preoration for fitting the new oil pump and found this

it took some serious force by the puller to remove the clutch. would i be wright in thinking that the crank is buggerd?

i do have a spare 1275 A+ in the garage, would the crank from this be ok to use if in good condition?

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

yes it looks like it but a better pic would be better to confirm things 100%

you could have it spray welded and then ground down but its expensive*frown*

the 1275+ crank would be ok its the best option*wink*

whats the flywheel boss like ?????????????????

yes we can safley say its JOSSED!

& the boss or flywheel as well

this has not been fitted correctley to start with in my book!

hence the damage

when you fit the flywheel next to the crank lap them togeather using valve lapping paste untill you get them both a nice dark color this takes at least 20mins minimum

The crank isnt completely toasted, i have seen worse come out from under a flywheel, but i dont think its worth saving finatially.

Not sure on your torque-up proceedure, but heres what i do to avoid a mess.

After following benross's lapping proceedure, or similar, its best to give the torque figure a bit of a beef up when torquing up the bolt. If you need a figure take a look in the yellow book, im sure vissard gave a figure in there. I would also slacken and re-torque several times, say 3, to make sure the tapers have locked fully.

Further problems with overly tight lockplates can be solved by filing the edges of the plate with a file till it just about pushes into the slot on the crank by hand. I have seen this replaced on new builds before now and the crank bolt then tightened up on this plate. Even if its lined up, if it doesnt fit the bolt torque will go into compressing this into the slot rather than locking the flywheel onto the crank.

I've seen the future and tbh its Pie

If anyone buys an en8 lockplate from minispares that last sentance needs to be followed as i havent yet fitted one which doesnt need modding!

ouch! i had a similar thing happen to me a while back, the flywheel bolt came loose and the flywheel friction welded itself to the crank! it looked even worse that that! needless to say after a new crank and new u/l flywheel i make sure i put em on properly now!
steve

doh! why did i start messing with it!

my mate had a flywheel that sheared the pullet trying to get it off. he used nearly a full can of wd40 on it then got another puller and left it tightened on overnight. next morning he went in his garage to find a f**k off great dent in his garage door and the flywheel sitting there.

his crank was buggered too.!

balls to the blower!!!

now that is truely anoying and i would be taking it back to get replacement parts at the very least. There is no doubt that that damage would have been caused by poor fitting.
