I've fitted a brand new wirin loom to my car, It's a MkIII loom with a MkIV steering column so had to make my own connector as MkIII does not have wiper function or main beam on the stalk, i've wired so mine has.

Anyway put a new battery on the car yesterday and after resolving a couple of issues everything is working bar the indicators, there is a love feed to the relay and with the indicators turned off there is also a live feed from the relay to the steering column and it's live here to.

Once the indicator is turned on (either direction) there is still a live feed to the relay, but the feed to the column has no voltage, the relay 'tick tocks' but the indicators to not illuminate, ive disconnected the steering column and shorted across the feed and the indicator cable, with the same result.

It does seem to point at an earth, but if i put a live to the indicator lamps they illuminate, which would suggest the earth to them is ok, i've checked the wiring abou 20 times and it's as it should be.

Any ideas, what am i missing

PS I've also tried 3 different relays, all with the same results.

Please Help

Yes nogin is right about the hazard wiring needing to be spot on.

The indicators basically work as follows-

there should be an ignition controlled live feed to one side of the flasher relay. the wire from the other side then goes to the indicator stalk.

when you move the stalk, this connects the flasher unit (via the stalk, via the hazard light switch, via the bulb) to an earth.

This completes the circuit, and the flasher unit starts pulsing.
