not realy asking for help on this YET! just wondered if anyone would like to hazard a guess to what ill find.

at retro cars today i did me 1st run lots of wheel spin off start but a good run i think but on me second run when i got back to the end of the strip me steering felt very heavey and the car seemed to pull either way at random. when turning wheel left or right on the spot i get a creak type noise. when steering left right whilst driving i get the same sort of noise and a bit of a vibration. when on nearly full lock it squaks and creaks. when reversing on full lock feels like something is binding up. felt like driving a 4x4 with diff lock turned on.

so i jacked each front wheel up one buy one and in neutrel the wheels are very very diffecult to turn and whilst turning wheel and putting your hand on both the inner pot joints a you can feel the knocking/creaking is coming from there. i dont think both pot joint would have gone faulty at eacctly the same time. so im thinking a diff problem.

ive got a 900ish mile (at the most)old minisport 4 pin fitted that i bought new. it was the only diff i could get the time so do nt sa you told me so!!!

so ill strip it this week i rekon could be a bust diff or bearings, what do ya rekon?

right took me engine out and took diff off. diff and bearings both seem ok although diff feels a bit tight ill strip it another day.

found major problemo in the box tho*frown*

the 3 bolts that hold the bearing retainer on near f/d have pulld out of the casing. the bearing has moved out of the resess then this has been rubbing on the crown wheel. think this is me problem

so ill strip the box off tomorrow and strip it on wednesday and see what i need hopefully wont need much.*frown*

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

i think the bolts pulling out may have been my fault due to overtightening them. looks like the crown wheels probably been rubbing on it for a while*frown* cheers wil but i think ive got a spare casing.

oh and me diff is definatly knackered looked ok when id taken it out but felt a bit stiff. so i stripped it to pieces. bolloxed absolutly bolloxed. one of the shorter pins had worn and welded itself into the little pinion wheel. only affter less than 1000 miles *frown*
