The last few times ive needed something fast and tried minispares they have come up with the goods next day, obv have to order that extra fast service and the postage as a consequence isnt cheap. I use their venier and its been faultless except i think i may have had a clearance prob on the camshaft sproket hitting the triangular shapped retaining plate bolts.

I havent ordered from any other suppliers and asked for next day.

I've seen the future and tbh its Pie

Iain give minits a ring dude.

Andeh i had exactly the same problem with my minispares one, except i didnt notice till my oil pressure disappeared. 1 new oil pump and bearing set later i learned my lesson.

the frontplate holes have to be countersunk a little and the right screws used, this should cure the problem *happy*

I think they mean the cam retaining plate bolts (three of) that are behind the larger gear, and not the two screws on the bottom of the front plate that yopu correctly say need to be counter sunk.

I had the plate bolt gear interference problrm too with my belt drive.

The counter sunk bolts are used for the bolts that go into the bearing cap, The 3 bolts holding the triangle usally clear just fine....

But I have seen minispares poor quality products before and will no doubt see them in the future....

avonbar mate, thats where mine are from, seem a good piece of kit. and ive always found them really reliable.

yeah you will need 2 countersunk screws for the bottom bolts of the back plate/no1 main bearing cap. cleared the triangle bolts easy tho.

Edited by Carl on 4th Jul, 2006.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

the swiftune one is the other option, they'll probably get it out fast aswell if u ask. Its an ok design but can foul the cover in some instances.

thats whats happened to my minispares one, it caught on the three bolts that hold the triangle plate in. Had it flashed over at an engineers shop though and its still going strong now, with some smaller headed bolts to be safe *wink*

Don't get a cheapo copy one,as the step which sets the cam endfloat was out on mine.So I basically had to regrind the whole lot to get the correct cam endfloat whilst maintaining alignment on the pulleys

I actually think that this problem is to do with a change in bolt head design , I have 2 different types (probably A and A+) the later ones have a raised 'lip' on the bolt head.

I guess Minispares designed the pully using the wrong bolts. I can't see it being a manufacturing fault, it's too far out; and Minispares is pretty good stuff generally.

give mike (mbe) a try mate, would have thought he'd have a vernier kit in stock, then you can just drive over and pick up, nice and easy
