dug me spare gearbox out and inside looks the same but ive noticed a couple of slight differences.
no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Earlier boxes had studs AND USED GASKETS

Do you mean gaskets or locktabs? I'm a bit confused as I've always used gaskets on everything

Tom means between the diff housing and maincase.

Yes sorry, wasn't very clear there. Also the transfer gear case to the end of the block/box always uses a gasket AFAIK.

These tend to crack, I know I had one. Wil yeah its got 4 bolts in the retainer. ill use and see how i go. thanx no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Vizard advises against using a box with the 4 bolt retainer, and i was also told not to use one by Phil Hepworth {Gp A Turbo daddy}. I had one which i discarded on this advise and used a 3 bolt one.

Yep - if there are 4-bolts, put it on ebay...

Apparently I have a high powered vehicle!! :) Today when I was going to rebuild the box on BIR1 after a 3rd gear cone coating failure I saw that the casing was cracked. Blimey, I don't have some half torque do I?? I guess it was bodged previously
