Some one was after the same dash as I have, but it was not being produced. The moulds were sold to some one else.

Just found this which is identical

I'm sure he brought it from a mini show. I'll give him a ring and find out if he remembers.

SMB Composites, no longer thats who :)

Smudger sold on the moulds to some one in around southport, but I have not seen them since, so this dash should be considered rare. Not many were made. They were about £160 new.

I had to cut about 3" off the back edge on mine to get it to fit with a standard steering column, and it needs a deep dish steering wheel.

That`s not ideal really is it Sproket.

If i do secure this dash on ebay. I shall take a mold. Then i shall modify the dash to fit correctly.

Smudgers parts were never the best, and at times he was a disrespectful cunt. Excuse my language.

He was affiliated with my club at the time when i just started to become interested in composites. Some two and a half years ago i do believe. He was less then welcoming.

I hear what you are saying, but it is called a 'Rece' dash. There are a few on hear that have totaly repositioned their steering column. I got it to fit great and i'm really happy with the way it looks in the car, but there are areas I would like to have seen some minor alterations.

If you want I will take some more pics, but its out of the car at the moment, so it would be a while yet.

If you start making these I would be interested.

I'd be interested too, but wouldn't change anything about the way it looks only the fitment.

Actually yes there is, also a verto flywheel locking plate. However.

If i`m honest with you, i don`t know how well it would work in the application in terms of its structure.

But it withstands the hacksaw test bloody well.

But machining it? I guess an aggressive cut but as a slow speed is going to be the way as opposed to multiple passes.

I might just get told to sod off lol!

The thing I like about the SMB dash was the shrouded style of the pod. I accented this a bit more by making a seperate panel that sits in at the top and is flush with the bottom.

Fine if its a race car, it doesnt need to be stylish, but on a road car, its nice to have at least some style.

Now if you did a two peice like the white one, but with the shrouded pod with an angled dash face, It would satisfy what I was originaly looking for, at less than chop your arm off prices.

Now the other thing I would improve is the arc of the pod, making sure that it is concentric with the sterring wheel.

what I really want is the dash from the Group A works Subaru Legacy*happy*
