Hi guys. New here but am in the process of purchasing a 1971 1275 gt fitted with a blown turbo engine.

Any recommendations on a reputable parts supplier for things like pistons etc would be great.

Also, any info on the car itself would be nice.

It apparently has gt on the logbook and is also tax exempt which is a bonus but its too far modified to be turned back to stock but is in vgc. Any price/value estimations would be good too.

Thanks Millsy

Welcome to Turbominis. Some pictures & a spec would help people give a valuation. It's impossible to say of what you've said so far. :)

Thanks for the (sensible) replies.

My initial post was to say hi and to ask for some recommendations of a parts supplier for internal engine parts for my turbo engine mini that im about to purchase, from some forum members, those in the know or whatever.

As an addition I thought id add that it has gt on the logbook, it is too far modified to be returned to original but is in very good condition, that it has a turbo engine (albeit blown) and that it is tax exempt.
Quite a lot of info considering I was talking to myself.....now that your here though, maybe I was better off alone........

Obviously I was going to add more info as and when requested.

It is a 71, 1275 GT. Has 2 bucket seats and a cage, it has a straight cut box and a hybrid turbo, unsure on spec, forged internals but compression down on cylinder 1.

Im being vague as I haven't collected it yet so details slim at the min.

sometimes mate a forum is as good as you put into in. You have asked some hard to answer Question's with not a lot of facts or pics!!!

Things like ----

"it is too far modified to be returned to original but is in very good condition"
Show me a car on here that is a original!

"im about to purchase, from some forum members, those in the know or whatever."

Have you not asked them?

I am not being a dickhead here just saying what I am seeing!

maybe some photos of the car would help matters.

And a note, you will usually get a reply within minutes on this forum so id let slip the idea of putting more info into a topic at a later stage. its more simple and easier to type it all up at once.

P.S. hello and welcome, do not forget to use the search feature. there are years of knowledge at your fingertips and many questions you may need answering are probably already answered here somewhere, you just need to have a quick search.

Welcome to turbo minis. What's the reg? Someone on here might recognise it.

Part suppliers - really does depend on what you have in mind, but most the main mini dealers will be able to supply bits for a rebuild - turbos will have to be sourced elsewhere and some parts will either be custom built or reconditioned originals as they won't be made or stocked

Once you go turbo you will never go back. Main thing is dont rush into any buys, have a look around, spec the engine to your needs and take it from there.

If you want a '71 GT that is original, then search one out rather than one that has been turbo'd.
If you are looking for a clubman, that has the bonus of being Vehicle Excise duty exempt, and has the extra bonus of being turbocharged and hence the potential to be very quick on a shoestring budget, then I'd say you have found an ideal start.

This is about all I can offer you advice wise based on the info supplied. Hope it helps!

Welcome to TM, most times you'll notice that we take the Mickey out of each other and that's the bunch that we are but in terms of vague info, we would normally take the side of a spammer messing with the forum, so once again welcome to the nut house and make as much use of the search button as possible, as most if not all the possible topics relating to any A Series turbo'ing have already been covered.

Adding your location may help as well. Someone local to you with some knowledge may be able to look at the car with you and give some advice.
Other than that, sometimes its best to start with a standard car and modify it as/when you have the knowledge.

It's a shame if he has, we all start somewhere - the last thing we want is the forum to seem 'clicky' and not welcoming.

Thanks Wolfie, pretty much my thoughts, great, another forum full of "im better than you types"
BUT after reading some more of the replies I can see its just a select few, like other forums, who like to scare of the newbies lol

To the others, thanks for the replies and I have the reg now. its XRH504J and it is blue but not a clubman front, seems to have the normal mini front.

Any info on this car would be helpful as if theres anything I should know, now would be good as im collecting the weekend..

Thanks Millsy
