"the first turbo 16v we had on the dyno gave over 300bhp"

http://p211.ezboard.com/fminiclassicgenera...icID=6976.topic

Wowee !!!

Looks like I don't need to bother making that new clutch layout as Morspeed must already have that covered to be harnessing that power... *oh well*

editied - just noticed I spelt MorSpeed wrong in the title *blush*

Is that a typo possibly?

I am sure the 16v head increases the efficiency considerably, but over 300bhp from a 1300-odd A series? Yikes!

I think its easy to make a typo.

I know he has seen around 170 from the NA 16v. 300 seems a lot to me though, especially for a first run. I would love to see that though.

yes it has sort of happened,

we dyno'd it fine and was excited, but it all went wrong when it came to the clutch, with a steel flywheel unit, paddle plate and double grey cover it slips like a fat man on a wet floor at 2800 rpm.
It was going to be a big secret for avonpark but who knows now untill ive spoken to AP about a double plate.

The N/A 16v engines are going great, ive just completed the 4th out of 7 i have on order, this one going to italy.

Kentcams came and seen it last week and now want to be involved which is good news, they want to take over making & marketing the cams, pulleys (top and bottom) and belt.

I know turbodave and minisprocket has some problem with me, but all i can say is its a cheap conversion if you can do it yourself, give it a go.
i dont mind swapping ideas as im sure we can all help each other.
But please dont critisise my conversion minisprocket when it has been approved by 2 of the biggest tuning companys out there, you seem to be forgeting i cannot sell a product that has not been proven, it is illegal.

wolfie the clutch is only "more" of a problem when you start to use it in racing i would think.

i really dont know what is suppose to be bullshit turbodave,

After all, im the one who is building them and making a very good living from it, you are the one sitting at his keyboard talking about it.

i did not bite to your last thread about the head bolts, and certainly have no reason to prove myself or get into any argument with an individual now, belive what ive said or not its up to you.

Either way i dont care, it does not affect me.

minisprocket,

ive had the gaskets made,
the N/A gaskets are fine, made from the same material as the BK45O @ 3.5cc as the 16v head comes with 21.6cc not far off a 12G940.
the turbo gasket was a steel 3 piece gasket similar to the original BMW item, this way i could make it 9.3cc to help lower compression.

I see you have moved your bores? i guess to match the BMW gasket?
I have kept the bores in the original position and had the gasket made as per a normal 1275 gasket but with the stud and water holes as per BMW gasket.
I too use the STD head studs cut down.

Im in the process now of updating my website with the dyno graphs and having a go at getting some rolling road video on there.
At the moment there is a lot more work involved in turbo'ing the 'K' 16v onto a mini bottom end, RB Racing seem to get 312bhp from the bikes no problem, but at the moment the best available mini clutch cant cope, If turbdave is designing a clutch then great it could solve 1 problem.

Well I'm underway with one - and I'm going to need some serious engines to validate it with...

Jim and Peter 1071 are having one...

So closer the time we'll talk....

Ahh, all friends again.

So, 300 bananas on a 1275, wha tcould I get on a 998? I guess you'd need a short stroke motor, or some seriouse pocketing to make it fit.

Looking forward to Avon now.

it was a 1380cc wil'h',
running 8.0:1,

Omegas opened from 11cc to 13cc +1.5cc pockets
steel gasket 9.3cc
left pistons 1mm down the bore

This let me leave the head with a light skim @21.4cc

But it couldnt keep any external gaskets together, and seemed to get too hot. this was on the dyno.
once operating the clutch arm it would not stop slipping no matter how we adjusted the arm/throw out etc...then it makes a mess of the crank thrusts......
It needs a serious look at.

Wil, that was my exact thought. However, now we have a head from Simon that is capable of running 200+ in a 1300 (1293, whatever) then lets aim for that first.
