Bright red engines look good with colour co-ordinated powder-coated bottom arms and other chavcessories like overbraid and anodised dashpot covers.

aha!

I think that all engines should be of a bright colour. Merely to cheer you up when you spend many an hours trying to get it running right!!! Thats why my engine will be blue, the same as my 998 currently in the engine bay!!

We'll see. Bearing in mind the fact that I have turned the boost up as much as I can get away with on my peugeot turbo diesel wreck, how much chance do you think there is of me being restrained with the mini engine?!!

Probably not much!!

Oh well, I have built it to the best of my ability with all clearances checked and reset to bottom limit, so fingers crossed it stands up to it!

sounds like you have been pretty thourough with the build and the spec is certainly impressive so it should handle pretty much whatever you can throw at it!

Some more pictures as of today-

Timing cover only bolted up on a couple to check the length of the bolts I ordered and also I've managed to lose the oil thrower plate as well.........

do have problems with your brakes? Its just u have no cap on your master cylinder :)

Also, looking at the dump valve reminds me of something else i got from L2B, screw on dump valves, drill and tap a hole on the side of the plenum and screw it on with a bit of thread sealer - no need to have any aluminium welding done :) (from avonbar btw)

I binned that master cylinder years ago,

this is how it looked a few weeks back. I still need to tidy it up, but at least things are now bolted down and not just wedged in. I still have the same dump valve, £30 from my local factors, have been runnng it with over 15psi of boost for years, no problems!
