I use Twitter and its activley encouraged within my business course at uni - it can be very good for business if you promote and use it often. Theres alot more to it than celebrities, for example the iPhone Jailbreaking scene is on there and not facebook so a wealth of knowledge is there to be read.

It's like anything - it is what you make of it.

edit: just thought I'd comment on the "its on its way out" comment on the first page - Infact quote the opposite twitter is massive in America and is gaining pace in this country. I saw a graph in my E-Marketing lecture which had a list of Countries and iirc if Twitter was a country it would be the worlds 5th? Largest - deffiantly within the top 10, China being number 1 and Facebook being number 2

Twitter is great, you have to use it for what you want though. I don't follow anyone who wants to moan, or anyone celeb or not who wants to tell me what the had for breakfast.

I follow some motorsport people because I don't have the laptop time to read all the info, I follow New Scientist so I hear things I'm genuinely interested in and want to know more about without having to spend all evening looking for these articles.

I rarely want to tweet though, I think of stuff I wouldn't care about reading!
