I have a spa dash in the original binicle and there is enough room to fit a 52mm gauge each side

I have to agree with Nic. Your car is still very classicly styled and the current dash really suits your Mk1. I would be tempted to keep the centre binnicle but modernise it as others have suggested. But at the end of the day Simon, its your car and you have to style it how you want :)

Slightly OT, but what cage is that Simon?

Do the dash bar and door bars have the clamps built in or are they on the main cage?

Its just a normal 6 point SD bolt in cage I made the dash bar mate.

That's a good idea have you got a close up of it mate? As just like Paul says if I can fit it all in the pod that would be smart.

I am in a very similar position as you, though I don't have a center bincale but have walnut and magnolia 6 clock dash and bought a curley carbon dash to put in along with a digital dash, but I just can't make up my mind.

I personally love the looks of a works type dash, especially in a Mk1 like yours....

....although looking at your pics I can understand you find yours looks a bit cluttered at the moment.

As a means of tidying things up a bit you could try the following:

* paint top and lower dash rail crackle black, to eliminate the current contrast / create more of a monolithic look
* as paul suggested, do away with the christmas tree box placed on top
* turn the passenger side dash box into a hinged version with the fuse boxes placed inside
* If the passenger side dash looks a bit bare afterwards you could mount a pair of stopwatches in plain alignment with your centre binnacle auxilary gauges
* re-shuffle the driver side lay-out to again align the gauges with the centre binnacle gauges, it's like architecture really....plain lines are just more easy to the eye
* place your switches in line against the lower side axis
* place warning lights above gauges, look for most natural alignment....possibly smoke tint warning light to sink away in surroundings when not active.

And hey....you now have a slick interpretation of a 60's theme, just like the rest of your mini*wink*

Just my 2C

Si you should know by now taz will argue with anyone over anything its just fun to him *wink*
Stack dashes are very good quality and simple to use i really like them i got mine as its clean and relativly classic looking the triangle ones are probably better value though as mine comes with no sensors you have to buy them and there little looms separatley whereas the dash style ones come with a selection of sensors and actually work out cheaper and are slightly easier to read as they display more on their lcd screen,

Speeding is like masturbating, everyone does it, but not all of us film it and put it on the internet

I made this dash for my GTM from fibre glass. Not sure if I'm happy with it yet but it was very easy to make if you want a simple dash

I think I have something in mind with what to do with this now!

Can anyone help with better pics of the inside of this car? I have looked on Google, but someone may have something clearer from show land.

Nice and simple and has everything in it that you need bar a boost gauge etc.

I've got this in mine...

I like Joes suggestion best. Standard looking centre binnacle with an acewell or similar fitted.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

That swiftune setup is the best idea imo, pretty similar to yours now but alot less clutter, has one of these aswell, pretty neat idea.
