Good lad :)

You wont find a better forum, the amount of knowledge on here is mental and if ur ever stuck theirs always someone who's been and done it already.

It's slightly addictive and I'm told i spend too much of my time on here.

Lets hope so, I haven't picked it up yet and considering the engine is in the boot with the head off and no compression I think im going to have 1 or 2 questions.

I agree. I'd be wary of a 1275 GT with a standard front.

A non-original shell with blown engine (and who knows what else). I hope it's cheap.

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Alarm bells going off about a round nose GT.

How much is/has it set you back???

Life is always a matter of opinion and quite frankly, no ones opinion really matters.

If there's been that much money spent on it they should be able to give you a good detailed list of work caried out. If they can't then that would seem very suspect to me.

This is possibly the most bollocks post in the history of TM.

Sorry but ,,, in fact no I'm not going to apologise, if you want our opinion on a car then you need to actually tell us a bit of detail apart from the fact its a Mini. Hey go berserk and post a picture too, then perhaps someone will recognise the car......
So far apart from the fact that it is supposed to be a 71 1275GT but sounds like a later blue car ringed for free tax, that the engine is fucked and in the boot, and that if you paid anything starting in thousands for it you've probably paid too much, we don't have much to go on.

That's why I'm asking if anyone knows it before I buy it. I live over 100 miles away from where the car is and Ive posted the full reg twice.
I'm sorry if that's not enough for you. How much more can I actually tell you about a car that I've never seen and don't own? Get a grip.
If you do t know about it then you don't know. MOST people understand this and I'm grateful for the helpful replies, the others need to get off their high horses and go live in the real world. Newbies don't know it all, at at this rate I'm surprised they come at all.

Yes unfortunately you can't tell what's rotten and what's not from a reg and if its a genuine car of that era not much will be origional anyway so a registration number is pretty much useless, if someone's going to recognise the car it will 90percent be from a picture can't they email you one?

To be fair it was 22 posts before any identification of the car (i.e. the number plate) was forthcoming.

Considering how this thread started I think members have been extremely helpful.

Pictures will help, but my feeling is that the advice you will get will not be positive towards buying it.

Without seeing the car, I'd be running for the hills from what youve said so far. I'd pay no more than a grand for something that needs work nowadays. To put it into perspective, If it needs welding, paint, engine repairs etc it could easily be 2 or 3 grand depending on what you want.

as carzilla says, i wouldnt commit to buying anything before you see it in the flesh.
pictures are ok as a rough guide, but if it needs work though you could end up spending thousands trust me.

do you know what is up with the engine? as that could be a money pit too.

Swansea boyo!

Where are you buying it from? Ebay/gumtree? What info is on the advert other than what you've told us? I really wouldn't buy a car based on just age/engine with no photos unless you plan on spending a looooot of mularrr on it!

They don't die, they just get faster!
