That guys ass must have left one heck of a pyramid on that seat after it all went for a ball of shit.

Life is always a matter of opinion and quite frankly, no ones opinion really matters.

rather than the argument of the car not being securely tied down, surely its to do with the fact that the rr was shit and couldnt take the power?? as the whole thing seems to have pooped itself. love oli97 printout! haha

i got nothing but time..

Whilst I am not arguing that the car was not tied down properly, in the first of sprockets vids there are clearly sparks coming from the unit on the drivers side of the dyno seconds before it shits itself, its hard to see as some knob stands in the way and things happen so fast but that can't be normal , also on the other side there are 2 guys one of which points at the dyno and they start to exit stage left a split second before it goes bang, what I would ask of someone possibly Robert who seems to have a reasonable amount of dyno insight, is mechanical failure a contributing factor?

yeah i noticed the sparks actually in the vid, very brief mind. i never knew that could happen ^^ as in mechanical failure due to not been strapped down, i just assumed it would slip off

i got nothing but time..

So, who has ever used one of these bad-boy boost dynos at a car show?

I had been tempted before (in my youth) but probably woudn't have used one. Having seen this - I never, ever will use one,

I've watched a few vids of this on YouTube and there is one from the back that shows the frame disintergrate and the rear roller being ejected into the car park quite well (before the person filming shit himself and ran with his camera/phone still running).

In all the vids, the sparks/fire start at the left (passenger UK) side where the eddy current brake is ...

Robert, please confirm these portable units use an eddy current brake....

I've only seen one in use at the Ford fair and it was on castors and used an eddy curreny brake to absorb the power and was only used on FWD cars (the more powerful Fords were 4WD so couldn't use it or RWD, which would have spun the rollers the other way which I never saw).

So I'm guessing electrical failure in the eddy current brake leading to an overspeed that failed the rear roller bearings, probably due to the car not being tied down right.

It was a hell of a speed it was running at the point of failure if you believe some of the YouTube posts.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???
