my best best time of the day was 16.135, i wanted to get a 16 but couldnt get any more out of it i suppose a set up on the rollers would see me in the top 15s (was in top 15s last year but im getting slower), im losing a lot in the top end in 3rd and 4th gears when it pinks it nuts off.

it was a good show, me to with a sunburnt face.

Greypride, it was me racing you, but its not my car, its my mates, I just did the 2litre 16v conversion and welded the rotten remains of the shell back together.

Its unlikely you would beat it, heres full spec:

almost as boring as watching carl austins "pure drag racing monster" mini run an 11. again. Christ, there was a snotty 4 wd saph cossie running in the low 11's which beat carl.

It had full leather and a CD player etc and ran 11's all day.

sorry but if you got to a drag racing event like that and see carls, you expect it to do a 10, not fuck up half the time and the rest of the time do a mid 11.

Look a the airfilter on that Janspeed-ish setup. Those filters are rubbish on N/A Hs2 carbs.. USeless in other words. There's no way he can get 180hp through that.

Well It sounds to me like that's a well sorted XE. Congratulations.

I thought these things were quicker though? I'll take a guess that that must be 220hp - maybe a little more?

Certainly can't blame traction that's for sure from what I've heard. so was anything wrong or can we reference these 1/4 times for the next occasion we hear that these cars are blisteringly quick and that a standard nova with a stock xe can do the 1/4 in low 14's all day long (with - estimated again - 40% less power than the engine above)

So what other times did peeps get - I'm sure we've not had everyone listing their times? Did the red mini with the remote turbo in the above picture run?

The red mini didn't run on the strip the owner must have been in his late 60s and sat in a chair next to it all day long. What a waste!

Well the 1/4 isn't for everyone - but I hope MW has changed his mind about it now!

well done again on those times matt, and the terminal is outstanding for a car in your trim.

now for my excuses,
although i diiid manage to claw an 11.3 in the end ,i do have a tale to tell.

run 1 , was aborted almost almost imediatly as the front engine died ,or appearde to do just after launch, this turned out to be a switched off fuel pump for the front engine [seperate pumps].

run 2 started off well with a good launch [1.74 sec 69 ft] but i made an arse of the change to top ,haveing to have 2 stabs at it. but still peddeled it all the way resulting in an 11.7 at 118 mph on 50hp nitrous.
run 3 again ararted well with another 1.7 sec 60ft, into top ok this time and peddeled it , didn't feel super quick to the 1/8th and deffinatly struggled in the last 1/8 . [nitrous now upped tp 75hp].

this is the breakdown,
1.77 sec 60ft,
1/8 mile , 7.3 sec @ 99.08 mph,
1/4 mile 11.37sec @ 117.5 mph,

now we go back to the first run when the pump was swithed off , it woud appear that when the front pump stopped delivering fuel i suffered a lean out and started a damage cycle on plug 2, as on pulling them tonight i find the earth electrode half missing , now as i said ,this almost certainly happened when the lean out occured but still alowed me to complete run 2 quite succesfully power wise ,but must have weakened the plug further ,probably late in the run 2 or early in run 3 which is why my terminal on last run was relatively poor compared to my 1/8 mile.

YES i know its still my fault for not pulling the plugs after a run but i had become complacent recently due to haveing no plug problems for a long time, it wont happen again.lol. i hope.

i checked compressions on all four cyls and found a very slight drop on no 2 [only 5 lbs ] all the rest 170lbs, so the engine has not suffered really and i consider it still in good fettle..

Keep up the good work carl i am sure that beast is not long away from delievering some very impressive times, otherwise if you ever get board of it i wouldn't mind it in my lounge, just that sounds better than TV not to mention that lovely titanium.
