You should not have said that!

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

King Gaycharger, butt plug dealer, Sheldon Cooper and a BAC but generally a niceish fella if you dont mind a northerner

I know....

I think if I had to replace it with a similar car, it would be a run out model of the old a6 avant with 1.9 130 and all the toys.

For a 'new' car, I keep going back to a subaru legacy tourer with the 2.0 boxer diesel engine.

If I "had" to buy a car then I think a 525 or 530d manual tourer would be on my to look at list.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I know a few years ago I would not have entertained an auto, but I would honestly say that such as a 530 is a nicer car all round as an auto compared to a manual box. It's not a GTI, hence you are not going to be reaming it out round to the limiter all the time. The auto is nice to use, when I have felt the need to push on in my 535d the auto box is no hinderance at all, with the massive torque I'd say its faster down most A and B roads than I could go in my 205 turbo.

I guess it would be something that I would have to try Tom.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I went from manual on the A4 to auto on the A6. Its a lot nicer day to day but I miss the 'sense of urgency' with spirited driving - I now take the Golf out for a blast now and again to remind myself how much fun the manual car is.

I prefer the manual in bad weather though

Shame I just traded mine and it needed nothing, new tyres, brakes, serviced, had front suspension 12 months ago .. I wanted an auto, but couldn't afford a 20,000 mile bm so ended up with a merc.

The joy of new cars has been sucked out of me tbh.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.
VEMS + 12 PSI + Liquid Intercooler = Small Bore FUN!

If you need a test drive, a mate of mine has a 530d m-sport (very local). A gentle nudge and I'm sure he'd bring it over.

This is FORD country, on a quiet day you can hear Vauxhalls rusting.

personally, I think it is pot look with any car you buy, you hear all these stories and problems, you can never predict if anything is going to go wrong.
