Not seen a supercharged mini with 200bhp, never mind 300. Class D at Avon is the perfet place to prove me wrong though.

Not suggesting superchargers have no place on a mini, and they will certinally be an easier drive generally, but ultimate power needs a turbo.

oh, and check out MY engineering that has gone into it when the feature is published in minimag shortly. not saying others dont make and tweak stuff themselves, but when a large selection of tuning companys turn there backs because they dont think something is possible, then you prove them wrong, its slightly satisfying. simon was one of the only people who thiought i could get it to run. pffft.

its running an aston db7 blower on a semi race engine jimster. got it running fine when other said it couldnt be done. pretty sure its the only one thats runs this. pulls like a train and sounds pure sex!!! hopefully will be taking it to minis v beetles for a blast if i can map the ecu in time. cheers for the comment jimster

evryone said it was too big to use and the engine wouldnt run. the displacement is 1.5ltr per revolution and its designed to fit a 4 to 7 ltr engine. i got it on a 1330! anyway, this isnt my thread, its about simons beastie so much respect going in that direction. bravo chap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

changed it a bit since that pic was took now. got no dizzy due to the megajolt kit and i have an oil pipe wrapped around the end of the manifold next to the carb to put some heat into the manifold as it tries to ice up! a cheeky stabiliser is fitted from the blower to the top rocker box stud too

After speaking to a customer today i realised a few things that i should explain incase there are some crossed wires,

When i say tested on the dyno i do not refere to my rolling road, im talking about my friends actual engine dyno. This gives BHP @ the flywheel, So to make myself clear the 297+bhp that was reached was at the crank, which relates to around 236ish @ the ground according to his conversion graph.

All the 'K' 16v engines ive built so far have been dyno'd as my rolling road was not fully functual till last week, the first 'K' 16v conversion ive actualy fitted to a car is at my workshop now and should be fired up on wednesday. then i can get a BHP figure at the wheels properly.

My thought exactly.

Why is clutch slip an issue when its an engine brake attatched at the flywheel giving flywheel power figures.

An engine dyno connects direct to the crank or flywheel depending on the type, there's pics in tuning bl's a series.

I have a dyno box that runs through a modified verto clutch... its a bit odd!

The modified flywheel I also have is better *happy*

NowI just need a dyno ! lol

Can you give a better description AF - This is probably what the dyno Simon used was like. I'm just struggling to understand how you get drive out of the clutch disc which is behind the flywheel - unless you use the idler gear train? That'd seem like a daft way of doing it if you could of just 'tapped' straight off the flywheel however?

the dyno attaches direct to the crank with no flywheel,
The clutch and crank thrust issue came whilst going through the gears on the test rig, we set the throw stops as per normal and operated the clutch with a long scaffold bar.

P.S the test rig is for sale on ebay as from yesterday if anyones interested?
