thats a really nice colour,

looks a very similar shade to what my daily driver was in 1990 when the guy i bought it off painted it with a metalic black from an XJS.

unfortunatly its faded to the same colour and texture as a stealth bomber now...

Well its been a while now, But I have done a little bit more.

Here's some resent pics.

Engine now in.

Even got a grill on now.

Had to fab up a rather OTT exhaust bracket to get the exhaust fitted. I would like to get a rear diffuser to help clean up the back end. Any Ideas..?

Seats with even belts fitted.

Wiring sorted and megajolt installed. Everything is now internal to the car so bulk is clear and free of loose wires.

Just need a battery and a electric water pump. Then we'll see if she can wake the Neighbours up.

And Steve w is making me a nice carbon bonnet to cover up all my hard work. But should finish it off nicely.

Si, just drill some holes in the exhaust bracket, simple and saves extra weight as allways

Looking good, am sure carl will like the down draught

Rick

Ps the dash rails want removing.

how structural is the top dash rail do we thinks? mine really wants replacing but i'd rather same the money and weight!

going to have a full cange stitched to the body and bottom rail will also be gone. I just thought that the Top rail looks abit structural.

I didnt mean cut the rails off i was meaning the trim it wasnt very road racer look.

Suppose you can remove the bottom rail if the cage is strong enough and fasten the colum to it but id prob leave it there to add a bit of strength, it would help for side impacts.

I have no cage so the rail has to to stay to hold the steering column on...!

Cage = weight.

Rick, your right might just drill/machine some holes into the rear bracket. Its Ali anyway. But I'm trying to get a rear diffuser sorted to tidy it up.

shawsy , Seats came from a guy who makes them caterhams R500 and the like. I have his details somewhere if you would like a pair.

Right Guys,

I've spent today sorting out all the bloody wiring. And now, at long last everything works how it's supposed to do.

She's got coolant in, Fuel in and power to everything.

So before I crank the thing into life is the anything else I should quickly check. or forgotten.

Also how's best to generate some oil pressure before firing it up..?

yep,

i'd undo the pipe from the oil cooler, tip oil in and let it run in to the pump for a bit, perhaps turn the engine backwards a turn or to to suck it in, then conect it back up and spin it over with the plugs out.

once oil pressures up i like to leve it for a min then spin it up again to check the oil pressure rises fairly quick, normally repeat that a couple of times to let oil get to everything.

Right, Today was the day. SHE RUNS....!

Even got 4 forward gears and reverse.

Thought it rude not to go for a drive so I did. Stuck the plates on and off I went.

And the road test report is as follows.

Tyres low pressure.
Serious negative front camber.
Something loose at the back. Prob Damper..?
It will not pull at the bottom end at all. Setting off is a lot of clutch and a lot of rolling speed before she takes off. But then she pulls strong as.

Only a basic map just to get her running needs a lot more advance me thinks..

O and a leak from the middle centre branch.
But all in all very happy.

Tomorrow will be more fine tuning then get her on the rollers.

Just in time for the good weather to.

Si

P.S. You should of seen the look on the neighbours faces . Priceless.

Right its back together again.

All New:-
Fancy standard stroke crank
Bearings all round
Lightweight Flywheel and Back plate Clutch
Oil Filter Head + pipe
Roller drops 1:044 ratio
Diff + 3.9 SH
Re worked head + larger valves.
Titan 1.5 rockers
Oil pump
Turbodave mega bolt kit throughout.

So its in and I have oil pressure...Result.

So know its play time. setting it all up. Although it was running like a bag a nails. Till I looked in the Carb ( which I have never done) and it was full of what looks like casting sand. So once that was cleaned out it much better.

And yes its Taxed, MOT and insured.

We shall see how long this one will last.
But I am building another motor as we speak. You can not trust these minis you know. ( And it will be bigger and better of course...)

Good skills! I really like this car.

This is exactly how my car will look except mine has a proper front on it that was designed with a ruler.
