i have no interest and no bias in this particular matter whatsoever, but genuinely interested to know how about the legal aspect of this.

i honestly cant think whats wrong (legally) with this guy making them for a cheaper price? even if it were (im not saying it is or isnt) an exact replica down to the n'th degree?

im possibly/probably wrong, and i entirely understand that rich from mirage isnt happy about it, as lets face it, its development was obviously meant more than just a quick money spinner, and he has put alot of work into it etc, but surely thats the risk in a business has to take?

if this sort of thing can be legally stopped, how do pattern part body panels, non original equipment brake discs, pads, clutches, air filters, etc all exist?

how come there are so many lcb's on the market? i bet someone spent alot of their time/money developing the first one...and now everyone is making them.

if anyone can enlighten me id appreciate it

The chinese have made an economy from copying other peoples designs for UK and US companies that then sell them as own brand. I know companies in this country that do the very same thing - find a good product, send it to a chinese factory, have a copy made, modify ever so slightly and then sell it under their own name with no reference to the original company whatsoever. It goes on with BIG company tuning parts like HKS, Greddy, and Apexi to name but a few.

Most wheel manufacturers copy other manufacturers designs etc... I see no way of preventing this to be honest.

Exactly. This is why tuner companies spend so much time and energy creating a brand image. You could go out and buy copies of Mugen or Spoon or Volk parts for half the price, but you wouldn't have a genuine product...Some people care about having the genuine brand some do not.

isn't this the exact same thing that happened with zeemax a while ago? magic(??) were selling an identical kit and they tried to stop production, but they couldnt, so now they just have a message on there website asying that there kit is the original and best etc etc

I personally can't see a problem with it, it happens with almost everything new (look at micro scooters of a few years ago, and those wheelie things these days). you just get different brands selling the same thing.

you haven't done anything wrong though, your just doing the same as 50% of the UK's companies (ie selling something thats already on the market)

if you were selling it as a mirage product, then you would be in trouble!
