A drive on the road*happy*

But looking at youre pictures where did you leave the airfilter.
there is not a lot of room......

there is nothing wrong with a A-series that a turbo can't fix.

Here's a picture for youPicture033 by Matt4475, on Flickr
I think that was easy to find a space for compared to the radiator fan I will inevitably have to fit when the weather gets a bit warmer.

Looking very nice, I like the angle on the intercooler.

I did intend on putting the air filter by the washer bottle but it doesn't quite fit, I may well move it at some point but there doesn't seem to be a lack of cold air at the moment.

@minimole23 you are welcome to come and see it anytime, It should be going again soon but until I get the fueling sorted it isn't much fun.

It is a 2wd Sierra Cosworth intercooler, I had to cut some of the mounting brackets off to get it to fit under the bonnet. I got it off ebay for £5 inc postage!

I went for a T2 as I didn't want much lag and they still seem to be able to provide plenty of power. I also didn't really want to cut the bulkhead.

Well after spending £150 on an AFR gauge, taking over a week to find someone who could tig weld the sensor boss in for me and spending another 3 weeks without a car, it turns out the problem causing the hesitation was not due to the needle profile but a poor connection in the fuel pump fuse holder!

It seems to be running really nicely now, I've not let it build up more than about 3 psi of boost and not used much throttle but the torque is incredible, unfortunately so is the torque steer but I'll have to get used to that.

I will have to get it on a rolling road soon but the AFR seems quite good, it is a bit lean on light throttle from low revs but it didn't ever seem dangerously far out. It goes to 16.5-17 on over run, I take it this is ok as there isn't a whole lot I can do about that.

That's fine for overun.

Glad you've fixed the hesitation.

I've got a few miles on this now. I've established that it's lean at idle but too rich when cruising at about 50mph. Under acceleration it's about right, maybe a bit lean at higher revs but I haven't really taken it there much. I will have to get it on a rolling road soon, I'm not sure I have the patience to profile my own needle.

It's currently off the road as I tried to repair a hole which had appeared in the door step but found the metal was just too thin to weld to. I gave it a firm prod with a chisel in a few places which revealed just how bad it really is, even the oversill has rusted through. I was a bit unsure what to do when I discovered this, I almost decided to reshell it as it's full of bodges but as I've got 2 other projects at the moment so I've decided to replace the worst bits. I will try and get some pictures of how it goes.

Green engines are the way to go, looks just like mine 8-)
Ofcourse I'm not actually using a bubble wrap intercooler, but you get the idea!
This has all been sorted now but the photos are still on my camera, I'll try and post a couple up tomorrow.
