research the engine masters challenge wil, they spend a huge amount of time and money ,on thier designs , its about the most high profile tuning competition in the world .

But if they have spent years developing a particular setup, they may be very reluctant to go to something else such as EFI. I would think that Wil is right and in a few years this will likely change.

And even if it is true that you can't get maximum HP from an EFI setup (which I think is not the case), in any real world environment a correctly tuned EFI setup will be better due to the possibility of tuning all transients and the full load/RPM range for maximum efficiency and power. And it is also possible to adjust fueling and ignition for varying environmental changes (temperature, pressure, battery voltage,...) which won't happen with a carb and will affect actual power significantly.

Just shows that making power is not just about air flow, but how the fuel is delivered to the cylinder.

In my own testing, I've found that injecting on a closed inlet valve yields a richer AFR for a given air flow than injecting through an open inlet valve. The richer AFR shows thats the fuel has started to evaporate and exclude oxygen and will therefore make less power.

Vizard conjects that the A Series will make more power from a Weber than a Dellorto, because the Weber does not atomise the fuel as much as the Delo.

So, if we have an injection system that can inject into the open valve, only on the inlet stroke, plus injectors that do not create too much spray, then my money would be on the injection making most power.

Most people using sequential timed injection in the normal port per cylinder world are paranoid about injecting on the closed valve to get a smooth idle and low emmissions. I think that this does not produce the most power.

Time will tell *happy*
