If it's a standard 1275 it could be the rings knackered (£100 for a new set from total seal) it could require a rebore which could run up to £500 incl new pistons, the head could need refurbishing etc. Just be prepared to spend some money on it either way. It could be a simple head gasket but if the engine is out personally I'd strip down and inspect it all thoroughly.

get the pictures up or a link to the advert and people should be able to help a little more..

although with a round nosed clubman GT, I'd also be weary of what is supposed to be inside this turbo engine?

sounds like a bad egg to me!

Swansea boyo!

From what you've said, I wouldn't bother. There's still quite a few GT's out there so I'd just give this one a miss. Just because it's had lots of money spent on it, doesn't mean it's worth that much :(. My car will be solid and repainted by next week (HOPEFULLY!) just because I've spent almost 2k on it, doesn't make it worth that much.

Forgot to say WELCOME TO TM *happy* in my last post!

there are no pictures etc. so it equally could be a good buy, as a bad buy. the id of the shell has obviously changed at some time, or its had a round nose front put on it. what you need to do is go for a proper look with someone who knows what they are looking at. but to echo what others have said, probably wrong id, non runner etc, I would not be expecting to pay much for this even if it looks to be half decent. remember with minis there is always more than meets the surface. a small bit of bodywork often unearths loads of nasties, and brings on a full resto. also mechanical side of things is the same. it could just need a new head gasket, or it could have been thrashed to within an inch of its life. the last mg metro turbo engine I stripped was almost total scrap, so go in with an open mind and be careful

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Pics now on. I've had to put them in the other section as only option I could find with add attachment option.
If someone wants to add them here too that's fine.

I know the lad that built this and there is nothing dodgy about it, from memory it's a 1330. With omega pistons, home modified head (just the chambers). 266 cam ST ultralite flywheel and a micro dynamics boost retard thing module.
It was sold to someone from prtsmouth and they then put up for a raffle, pound a ticket.
Any questions I'll see what I can find out.

I think the "drop link gears" in the 1pound link makes it worth the purchase price alone, whatever that price might be LOL

Thanks for the info. Does that now make it a good purchase or is it still not worth it?

Can't tell you if it's 'worth it' unless you give us the asking price.

If it worked properly then it'd be OK. Not for a fubar one, though, unless the rest is mint (and I don't mean colour).

I wouldn't pay that for a poorly re-shelled car with a potentially fucked engine. I'd be closer to £1k tops.

damn it lol, was really keen on owning it last week but after some of the replies, I think your right, although it says gt on the paperwork, its not a gt, may aswell be a 998 on the logbook.

Ill have to speak to the guy and see what he says.

Cheers Millsy

to be fair that description in the 1 pound car advert isnt great (not great enough for 4-5k) theyre listing lots of parts its got, but none of them are expensive enough to ask that price and especially if it is broken. as the parts that cost a lot, could well be chucked in the bin.

As mentioned before do not pay over (IMHO) £1,500.

otherwise it seems like a decent car but only pay for it what you think the rolling shell is worth + broken engine.

Going round in circles abit now. If engine is knackered and I assume it has no MOT....basically its a rolling shell. So not worth a lot as others mentioned.

I am starting to agree with Tom about this thread.

There is nothing positive about this car if you want to convince yourself its worth buying then so be it but more fool you.

I may sound like a dick here, but I am surprised this has lasted this long!

My advice to the original poster is to have a look in the 'for sale' section here, as there are some NO Bull Shit cars / engines for sale at very good prices. If you're unsure what you are paying for ask someone for a bit of help! I am sure most people on here would help you look over a car for the price of a beer.

Again I am sorry if I sound like a dick as I know we all start somewhere, but most read up on what we are about to spend our cash on.

I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf
