I was thinking how good it is that this forum isn't as nazi as some others, so posts can drift off into another direction.........

Just to say.. There is a guy here who has just built a 2350cc (or something) Mi16 engine for his 205. It is N/A and makes approx 230-240bhp. Should be rather rapid that..

(This is no Nova :) )

I recall 'Fab' has a good knowledge of the Mi16 engine...
He was convincing me of it at one point; even told me about some 4x4Mi16 they made only for the french Market.

Isn't the Mi16 also a technically superior head to the XE - with better intakes, a larger feasible valve size, etc?

The mi16 head is a beauty. You could compare it with a M3 S14 head. REALLY nice. Although the XE is a good head, the Pug is tecnicially/engineered nicer.

The Mi16 is a cracking head. In fact I was looking at a standard one today with Benross, and to be honest, you are REALLY picking at silly things to improve it, it really is that good already.
Dave, they did make a Mi16 4x4, in fact I used to own one. The one fab was probably talking about would be the T16, a turbocharged Mi16 engined 4x4 405. They are rare as hell and I believe were only ever sold in France.
The one thing the XE engine has over an Mi16 is the low down torque of the XE. I have never looked that closely in why the XE produces superior torque, but it definately crucifies the Mi16 on that front. However, the Mi engine wins on light weight, standard power output, and also ultimate power potential.

correct me if im wrong but wasnt the main problem with the MI16v enegines was the cam belt had to be changed every 10k miles.

Erm that is definately a new one on me? I have owned 4 vehicles with this engine in, the Peugeot interval is 60k miles I believe, I have always done mine at 40k and have never had a problem!
Although it is an awkward job, especially in a 205!
