Matty,

Thanks, hey, did you copy my name??!! *tongue*

We do indeed offer fitting at M-Tech (and mapping on the rollers) We had a chap called James down in his mini a few weeks ago, unfortunately he had a fuel leak on his carb so we couldnt go all the way through with the mapping but he was enjoying using the system.

After thinking it through, I have emailed the organisers of MITP, and look forward to hopefully attending as a trader. We will have some great offers on the NODIZ and associated kit, as well as a nice display system you can play with!

Be sure to say hello to us if you can!

Thanks,
Matt

I really couldn't give a toss whos's "copied" who's homework in the passed, it happens everywhere, always has, always will!

It's attitude like that which is the real problem. This is exactly the same thing as saying you would buy stolen goods because they are cheap and everyone is doing it. If no one were to buy stolen goods, there would be a lot fewer people stealing.

Think about it. Intellectual property is not just something abstract; it takes time, effort and money to create. And having it stolen makes everyone lose in the end because there is less of it created.

My point exactly, the topic is about the Nodiz ignition system not about past history, regarding rights to licenses etc...I can't see how anyone can shoot down an ignition system without a valid reason to, after all by dismissing all new products coming onto the market, will result in no one wanting to develop new products for the fear it wouldn't sell.. *oh well*

Think about phone technology, one clever sod came up with the phone with a built in camera, then others "stole" the idea, and as a result different manufacturers are having to come up with new ideas to make there product superior to others. The legal battles continue between the I phone and Samsung galaxy as to who owns what rights of what technology, but at the end of the day, it wouldn't stop me buying a particular phone because it stole some of the software, and as and end result the consumer ends up with a continuing improving product. So in my eyes the more products like this out in the market (especially uk based) the better!

matty your comparison with phones is wrong due in part to the scale of those things.

A better comparison would be to think instead of how you would feel about a small company selling some parts for the Mini enthusiasts. Would you mind if they got started reselling stolen parts even if they were no longer doing it but simply making their own (or at least that's what they say)? Would you only consider the quality and usefulness of the current part or would the past have any impact especially if you got a message from some of the people who's parts were stolen?

You can just brush off my example as being irrelevant if you want but I think that there are definite similarity between the two. In both cases, the legitimacy of the current business is tainted by how it was originally funded on the back of others property. If that doesn't bother you, so be it. I know that some people only see what they personally get how of some situation regardless of the rest.

Jean

EDIT: Oh and now you made my post be about Nodiz in the end.

Wow this is a long read. Personally I think megajolt has filled a gap for many years and done it well for a good price but it appears to be stuck in the past and unable to move on. They said they were developing an android app but nothing came from it. This is one thing nodiz offeres and I feel is a real advantage. I have a megajolt and quite a few edis modules but eould really consider a nodiz system on future project.

Jean,

I can assure you that M-Tech did not fund NODIZ. As I have already stated, it is a separate company, started with another person who is handling the marketing and the financials....

You go on about ethics and morals... I was a 20 year old building MS units, by the book. A COMPETITOR wrote me a snotty email, I replied and they then shut me down, on completely false stuff. If I gave a hassle free warranty (hell they were sold via paypal and ebay!!!) then it makes no sense to me. I felt WRONGED and I was. Honestly, be careful of the MS bunch and their politics, that is my advice, and if you haven't seen what they do to others, you are naive.

Thanks for the support chaps. As you can all see I have had this against me for years now by the same crowd. I start again, ground up, design a completely new system, different processor etc, go as FAR from any MS or MJ related stuff as I can get, beyond that of controlling an engine, and a megasquirt clique'r pops up to slate me, without ever dealing with me in anyway, ever. Says it all. I wish you all the best Jean, but please, just leave me alone!

Thanks,
Matt

sorry, i haven'd read everything.

the funny thing about this side is, they break copyright to show they think there could be a copyright infringement.
all companies i asked didn't license the use of the pictures

Jeez this thread escalated a bit.

Alright he did something a few years ago some dont agree with, but give the lad a break? It was ages ago, in other words who gives a fck?
Nodiz is completely new system and I dont think there is enough reason to keep going on at him and being all argumentative. I think the main question of this threads been forgotten.
I would happily go to the nodiz stand at mitp and probably place an order (as I enquired earlier this week to do so but have forgot reply as yet)

yeh jesus mutha of holy water this has gone a bit crazy.

this topic has been majorly sidetracked by a lot of keyboard warriors spitting and spatting the right n wrongs and lost its relevance it has to this topic which is about NODIZ/MJ not MegaSquirt or other crap.

I stress Mattys points about not caring if its copied as to a degree everything is in some sense and jbelanger are you one of apples lawyers and getting bored with Samsung so thought you would vent at someone else? (joke :) )

Everyone has a past or has things in the past that they have done wrong or could have done better and personally i think Matt has been very professional when trying to answer your questions and if your not happy with what you read or cant add anything to the original question then bloody zip it and go argue with your wife if your bored.

Like i said before, i've bought a Nodiz and although (name aside) i've no fitted it yet although hopefully within the next month when my 998 gets fitted i've been 110% happy with all my questions i've asked Matt. Unlike the MJ whom got lazy Matt seems to be developing this which i can only say i'm looking forward to seeing how it comes along. Example being feedback i left with an offline mode and i've just check it now exists in the latest software.

Personally its nice finally to have something UK based that we can use and if i do have an issue with it then i will let you guys know. Feedback positive or negative is good and i will leave both if they are found; and how Matt helped me resolve them. I do also plan on getting me ass to Matts sometime this year also for a quick session with him on the software and my car and might be helpful in this respect also to calm the history down that some seem to not being able to forget.

i think the main point was if another company was to reproduce a 'similar' ecu that could run the same program as nodiz and have no other actual software
aswell as undercut nodiz themselves would that not be frustrating to the developer?

good for the consumer though, and if you where in the same situation that developed with megasquirt as matt you would have done something similar

and atleast it has led to a new & improved option to a very limited market of aftermarket ecu's available
Innovation not immitation

The thread has run it's course and kind of inevitably gone back to the M-Tech history and hence deviated from the original question.

I suggested Matt puts a stand up at MITP.

So the pro and cons can be voiced face to face.

If he does, I'll be there.
