is the brass bit pressed into the plenium a restriction? is it a good idea to remove it ?

i think there is a turbodave post in the FAQ's called "thinking about fabricating your own plenum, read this"

YES

is it a good idea to remove it ?


NO

It speeds up airflow over the bridge of the carb, which in turn makes it lift more fuel.
If you remove it, you will need to make some serious mods to the carburettor, to restore fuelling.
Believe me, Ive been through it, and it took me a long time to make it work without the restrictor.. I had my own plenum made up.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will
