you need a modified plenum from giallofly on this site

and a dumpvalve-i strongly suggest NOT to get a bailey one

Nic, why do you suggest not to get a Bailey valve?

I have used them on cars in the past but never a Mini. I guess I know what you might be thinking but others may not be aware.

BTW the Forge valve seems good to me!

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

as i had one, it was fine when it was mounted upside down, but then i changed it when i needed the top hose i was using, and mounting it the right way up caused the petrol to contaminate the x ring seal so that it swelled and stuck open

bailey wont sell me a new seal, instead i have to have the whole thing refurbished for £30

im planning on getting a forge one this year when i have some money

That is what I thought ........

On carb cars it is best to mount the bailey well away from the carb. Also if you get any petorl down the vac hose it'll do it no good! The answer is to use an isolator valve (basically a diaphram in a air fitting so the vac doesn't act directly on the dump valve. Hardly ideal and buy the time you have bough the valve you might as well have bought a Forge valve in the first place!!!

Ive used quite a few Bailey DV's and to be honest, they are more reliable than most !!!

Just back from working at a Subaru, with yet another leaky HKS DV. The amounf of leaky HKS and Blitz DV's is a joke. They are total trash.

A friend has had 2 Forge DV's on his Cossie. They work fine, but that stupid foam bit the put around the body falls apart after a few weeks.

I agree that Bailey stuff s well made and have used them on many injected builds. It's just that the material thet use for the diaphram doesn't like fuel. With a carb system your always going to have a little fuel in the vac line.

Not tried their piston valve with a carb yet.

You can get different "fuel resistant" seals for the piston type but it seems hard to source these. Avonbar sells them but I think that someone on here says they had no sucess getting them off them. I have the baileys that I'm going to mount upside down and a spare forge I got cheap if that goes pair shaped.

For the 5 mins that my mini was running i had a piston valve on there... seemed ok, shame about the rest of the car! haha.

As for the not knowing turbo stuff, check the FAQs and beginners tech, worth their weight in gold.

i used to have problems with piston DV's sticking, i changed the "O" ring for a smaller/tighter one and it lasted a day or two, then tried grease. this lasted 2 or 3 days the silicone grease, this lasted about a month or so. then i fitted the DV up side down. same DV but never had a problem since

conclusion
if you have a piston DV, fit it up side down and never have another problem

Just take them off and leave it in the garage that will sort all the problems!
