Ok....I have a TIG, now I want one of these *happy*

Are the cheapy ones on ebay any use ? It will mostly be light stuff Im cutting, but the ability to do 12mm steel would be handy too.

or there is even a cheapy Lincoln on ebay that is broken....would it be worth the risk ?

I'm pretty sure you can put a plasma torch on a dc tig, is this what you mean?

I was referring to a seperate item.....

But would there be an add-on device that would allow me to do this ? Instead of buying a seperate unit?

I see there are some Plasma's from a UK seller for circa £350
ive trawled the feedback, and 3 buyers so far say its good.

Think you'll be lucky to find one that'll do 12mm. I've got a Cebora pocket plasma that can do upto about 3mm - and the ring main in the garage gets noticeably warm when its been used for a few minutes - I also run the compressor on a separate ring main, and the two combined regularly trip a 40amp breaker :)
I got the cebora as a "sold as seen - not tested" off eBay for £200 and it cost me another £100 to get it repaired - still cheaper than a new one though.

Not an area I've had much experience in, but getting stuff laser cut is quite cheap.....worth considering, depending how much you would actually use a plasma

Trust me if I could I would.....

I have been lusting after a plasma cutter for a couple of years but the bank manageer says no!!!

I used to have access to one and some of the stuff I used to do with it even blew my mind.

Did any of you ever see my gilled turbo Mini at the shows? White with black roof, LAMM cabrio kit, Superlight Challenger wheels? BOP361V

Wish I'd keep pictures of all my old cars. Usually get rid of all photos to the buyer when I get bored of them .... never look at photos and digi cameras were didn't exist back then.

Just found this on ebay.

Cheaper than buying two separate units.

Not very sunny swanage

my mate got his plasma cutter this afternoon, chinese made, but bought from a uk seller giving one years warranty. its a 'cut 50' suppossadly capable of cutting 20mm plate.

we played with it this evening, and with the power on max it will actually cut a full inch of steel!!!!! awsome on thin stuff, all round a bloody good peice of kit.... £360 delivered!

Pete

And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers!

If I didn't already have a decent DC TIG I might be tempted .... but only if I could by from inside the UK.

Had nothing but bad experiences with ordering from around the world .... plus if everybody did that all the UK retailers would be out of business and then where would you get your spares on a Saturday morning???
