Is it possible to fit the gears from an early rod change gearbox into the casing of a later A+ remote change gearbox? '93 White Sprite: 12x5 Revolutions on Falken rubber, Hilos, Kayaba Gas Uprated Shocks, Striped and Caged. Collecting Parts for a turbo build...so far the list stands as t3 metro turbo and exhaust manifold, pipercross filter, metro turbo plenum, metro turbo carb...still got a little collecting to do! |

yes, just use the appropriate shafts/bearings that match the gearset "Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun"

The laysharft and lay sharft are different and so is the reverse gear. But it is indeed possible "So wat we gonna do tonight Brain?"

from an early rod change gearbox into the casing of a later A+ remote change gearbox I presume you mean the other way around, ie from an early "remote" (aluminium extension) into the later A+ rod change casing. In which case, so long as they are both 4 synchro, yes, I've done it twice as I prefer the earlier gears. As above, the layshaft and lay gear differ (size and number of needle rollers), but so long as you use the shaft/gear/bearings that belong with each other, they fit in either casing. BUT, also as above, the reverse (idler) gear is quite different, you must use the one that belongs with the particular casing, the groove for the selector "fork" (actually a pin) is completely different for the two casings. Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ??? |

I did it also but had to mod the centre web a little for clearance as the mainshaft is inserted.
I seriously doubt it! |
