Here is a breakdown of the ingredients of race fuel of the late 60's. For the record, fuel has gone down in variety and quality since, even though you can get all the stock from your local suppliers. It shows recommended compression ratio and ballpark alteration from standard pump gas for fuel flow.

Interesting stuff and also ties in with various rumours/how great E85 is etc.
